Mother/Daughter brunch!

A few weeks ago I decorated for an event at my church.  It was our annual Mother/Daughter brunch and the theme was DAUGHTERS OF THE KING.  I started with burlap, antique dishes, tea cups, crowns and pearls.  I hunted through every thrift store in the area for several weeks to find my treasures.  I had such a good time shopping and finding great one of a king pieces!  Then I went to a great antique store, owned by some long time friends, The Red Rooster.  They gave me the best deals and helped me find incredible pieces and adorable hankies!  (you should stop in there).  Here is some pictures of my table centerpieces.  I think we did a total of 45 tables (including the entry tables).  It only took about 9 hours to do, and that was just because each table had it's own unique centerpiece.  I have the best sister and friends that helped out and understand how I work.  They are so great to put up with me going behind them and changing things!  (I might be sort of a control freak).
There are a ton of pictures, and I didn't even post one of each table!  ENJOY!
Burlap coffee bags were the center of each table!
crowns & pearls...oh my!
I used crowns a lot since the theme was "Daughters of the King"

Feathers!  I just couldn't help myself!
I used these large glass jars for stacking high!

candlesticks topped with tea cups, oh yeah!

The thing that made each table was the live flowers that I potted in the tea pots and tea cups!

sign in, please!
This may have been one of my favorite things...printed black & white mother/daughter pics and hung them in the entry with the lights & burlap!

Mini Decorating Project

A friend of mine called and wanted me to help her get started on decorating her new home.  Here is a few before and after shots of what I did.  I was extremely excited to have had this opportunity and she helped me to fine tune my sewing!  Together we made 2 table covers (1 table square and 1 runner)!

Here is the entry BEFORE
And AFTER!  All it took to spruce up this area was to change up the arrangement.  I used most of what was already in the container, just adding newer, brighter colors.  OUT with the ivy...IN with the grasses!
 And a close up.
Powder Room BEFORE

And AFTER!!!  Again, just a few touches is all it took to make this space fresh!

Above the cabinets...BEFORE

AFTER!

AFTER...just a few things so far for above the cabinets!
Dining Room BEFORE
AND AFTER!

We worked on making this runner together.  She actually showed me how to sew and I picked the fabrics.  (I did actually sew a little myself on this one!)  All this room needed was a runner and candlesticks and it's complete!

And the last part of this project is the square table cover.  It's hard to tell the beautiful colors in this picture, but there are several shades of turquois and lime greens in the center fabric, and the gold trim really tops it off!  (I did not sew this one...but I did coordinate the fabrics!)

I hope you can see that sometimes it doesn't take a whole lot to change a space.  Nikki had some great things to work with and an incredible house to add my touch to!  It was great throwing things together that the two of us liked!

Anxious to get started...

It is already February and I'm really getting a slow start to this blogging thing.  (even though I've been anxious to get it going since last summer...)  I hope to make this blog a place that you come to for inspiration, education and for fun!  I plan to share my decorating jobs, my latest craft projects and fun things about my life.  I've gone with the name Holly Would... as a play on words, but also because I've had so many people say that they've thought to themselves "what would Holly do?"  in different circumstances.  I am working on a recap of the Fall and Christmas Holiday decorating that kept me busy the best part of 2011.

I would like to share the most exciting thing that I've done this year...MY BUSINESS CARD!

I know, it may not be exciting for you, but I really worked hard to try to capture HOLLY in this card and I hope I was successful!  Thanks to Joyce McCall, who not only got my blog started for me, but took my ideas for my business card and designed one that is even better than I hoped!  Here's a picture of it and I'll be passing these out like crazy once they arrive!
